I had a big problem with the filter. I didn’t know what to do because now my kids have so much energy. They run around all the time!
A leader requested a filter project in their village. Upon completion of a water analysis by the health department, in big red letters, the report said “Not for human consumption.” The leader asked “Does this mean we get the filters?” A project was completed in their village. Now people of the village are having church/small group meetings & La Pena is one of the villages where our church is meeting in peoples homes two times a month.
Nobody used to come to the clinic because they would usually get worse. Now we use the filter water for people to take medicine, clean wounds, and wash the tools we use. We also pray with each patient that comes in. The filter has changed the way people view the clinic & has given us an opportunity to share the Gospel with everyone who comes in.
While installing a filter in a home of an evangelical protestant pastor, the Catholic leader of the community stopped. He explained they had both lived & grown up in the community, and this was the first time the Catholic leader had ever been in the home of the evangelical pastor. We all drank coffee together and prayed for unity within the community.
A school board member saw Joel in town & asked if His Hands had done a filter project in the village of El Jardin. Joel told him yes, they completed it about 6 months before. The school board member replied, “I figured so because now we have more kids going to school & have to hire another teacher.”
His Hands may never know how much you are helping everybody and especially pregnant women. I have seen pregnant women who use filters have babies that are much healthier because the mothers are much healthier.
Team Testimonials
My experience in Honduras was transformative. To see what an impact that something as simple as clean water can have on an entire family was unbelievable. I am convinced that God is using Joel and his ministry to spread His word through life giving water.
Incredible opportunity to serve a mission and families that ABSOLUTELY make a difference to transform lives.
My experience was life changing. I would sum it up in one word BLESSINGS. My family has been so “blessed” with all of the comforts that we enjoy and take for granted. To be able to “bless” other lives with clean, healthy drinking/cooking water was truly the “Blessing”. A little bit of work for so much reward.
It has truly been a blessing to serve in Honduras with His Hands Mission International. It is awesome to see how people are being connected to a relationship with Jesus through a ministry that also provides such dramatic change to their physical well being.
Walking alongside Joel and His Hands Ministry is the closest thing to an authentic missionary experience a Christian can have on a short term visit. In just the span of a week, we were fortunate to be involved in a Christ-honoring business/ministry from start to finish. Beginning with village contacts, and then on to filter construction, and finally to delivery and installation … it was such an effective means of reaching hearts for Christ … when you were also meeting a person’s basic need for clean water.
Joel Aycock and his team make a difference every day. Their work, one remote home at a time, is transforming a community. After working a week side by side with Joel you see his passion, commitment, and sacrifice. His Hands stretches a dollar farther than any other nonprofit I have ever seen.
